Greetings and welcome to the St. Paul’s website!
We’re so glad you’ve decided to log-on to check us out.
We are a friendly, growing and dynamic Christian community
rooted in the Anglican tradition located in beautiful Summerville,
South Carolina. What’s important is not so much our denominational
affiliation, but that we are seeking to follow Jesus Christ with
all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength as we surrender our lives
to His will and purposes daily. Our identity is not so much bound
up in the history of our church, or in the denomination we are a
part of, but rather, in our connection with the person of Christ
and his transforming and renewing work in our lives. We believe that
God is not an abstract concept, but a personal and living reality
who has revealed himself to humanity though the life and work of
Jesus Christ and who desires to connect with each of us in meaningful
and relevant ways.
We offer several distinct worship
services for people
on various places in their spiritual journey.
First, for those who have grown up in the Anglican
or Episcopal worship tradition and who perhaps appreciate a more
traditional or contemplative approach to worship, we offer our Sunday
services at 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the historic church.
Second, for those who desire something a bit more upbeat,
we offer several lively, contemporary services that joyfully celebrate
the character and goodness of God. For instance, our large Sunday
at 9:00 service meets in Doar Hall and successfully blends contemporary
praise songs with traditional hymns. At the more contemporary worship
offerings at St. Paul’s, people coming from other church backgrounds
usually feel right at home pretty quickly.
Third, we believe church is not just about connecting
with the “already convinced,” but also with those who
are skeptical about God, or who are seeking answers to the ultimate
questions of life.
(Please see our list of services and times to see which
ones may be most appropriate for where you are on your spiritual
journey!)
We hope you have fun as you explore our site and please
let us know if we may assist you in any way! There are various opportunities
to submit questions in the “Ask a Question” boxes which
you’ll discover on several pages on this site, as well as opportunities
to submit a request for prayer, register for a course, or sign up
for our mailing list.
We look forward to meeting you in person soon!
Grace and peace,
Mike Lumpkin
